Glory be to God for another blessed and spirit touched weekend of singing and preaching!!! Stephen finished camp at his church just in time to hit the road again with the ol' 2x2's and sing. Thank God for 25 young men saved in this week of camp and 1 young man who accepted the call to preach. Without God's touch and God's people praying this wouldnt be possible. Thank you all.
Now on to the topic at hand. We are still amazed that everywhere we go, the youth seem to get into the services and ask for our CD's and stuff as much as the older folks. On Saturday night, we sang at the Faith Baptist Tabernacle in Athens, TN. A 5yr old girl named "Trista Grace" seemed to be glued to the stage the entire time we sang, and afterwards told Stephen..."That's the best singing I've ever heard". Hey, if its good enough for Trista, its good enough for us.
Sunday found us at Southview Baptist in Cleveland, and then onto New Zion Baptist in Athens, TN. Here's what blessed our hearts about the singing at New Zion...Over 8 months ago, the 2x2 Quartet did a singing in Cleveland, and little did we know that the YOUTH DEPARTMENT of New Zion would go back and INSIST that 2x2 come and sing for their youth sunday/5th Sunday night singing. the YOUTH are the reason we went to sing in that church. WHAT A BLESSING!!!
Many Many of the youth were overheard telling the parents afterwards.."told you you'd like them!". Music that Mom, Dad, & the kids agree on???? hmmm.
The youth department of Gospel way Baptist in Dalton, GA has bought 30 tickets to our "live" recording coming up soon. The youth department at Dalton Pike Baptist in Cleveland TN has 20 tixs themselves. Thank God for you all!!!!
Southern Gospel is often accused of being "old folks" music and folks say the youth dont support it and can't relate...but as long as the youth of the places we go keep supporting the old fashioned southern gospel music that the 2x2 quartet loves and sings for the Lord, we will continue. Some people say we need to try and change in hopes of"fitting in" and appeal to the younger crowds...so far with God's help we havent had to do that, and with HIS help, we never will.
