The 2x2 Quartet has always been 4 guys on stage singing their very best with songs that have touched them, and hopefully with God's grace will touch everyone listening. We stand night after night, time after time, and do what we believe God has called us to do. Minister for Him, sing for Him, preach for Him, and do our best to obey His will.
But the 2x2 Quartet is more than just 4 guys on stage. It has always been more than just what you see or hear on stage. Its much more. There are many more people involved in the ministry. As we pass the 2 year point in the ministry, we want to just pause and talk about some of those people.
When the ministry first started On April 23rd, 2005 in Chatsworth, GA the 2x2 Quartet did not own a vehicle to pull the trailer of sound equipment. How did we get around in those early days? Johnny & Glenda Kelley (Jeff's parents) pulled the trailer with their own vehicle and never took a single penny for their own expenses. They have been like 2nd parents to every one of us, and we love them very much. To this day, you will see Jeff's parents, his wife Kristy or his kids at virtually every service. You may see them loading equipment, running the product table, or maybe just standing back in the shadows with their heads bowed as the altar call is given. Jeff's entire family has supported him in more ways than we can ever say.
That first service also saw Stephen's wife & sister sitting back smiling as God gave Stephen the privilege to once again stand and do what has always been in his heart...to sing for the Lord. And as the altars filled that night, they sat praying for God to bless. Right across the aisle sat Vanessa Cox (Daniel's fiance) in attendance, supporting Daniel and praying for him the entire time. During the Heath Allen ministry with 2x2, his parents and grandparents would always be ready with prayers, support and whatever we needed to help us at just the right time. As the ministry grew, we saw grandparents, parents, sisters, brothers, moms and dads all pray and support us as we went along. Every member of this group has their parents and families praying and supporting us, and that means the world to us. Even from far away Jon has family praying and people who are very proud of him. These people have came, supported, prayed, cried, and rejoiced with us the entire time over the last 2 years as we traveled. Thank God for great families.
As we moved on in the ministry, Joe Reneau came into our lives. You wont ever hear Joe say very much, but those prayers, and his tireless efforts to make SURE that the batteries are always fresh, and the water is always cold do not go unnoticed. He runs the errands, and just shows up "in his place" as he likes to say because in his heart, he loves this ministry, and knows that God is using him mightily.
When Jon joined the group, his first question was, "What can I do to help?" We found out that the Dillon family shared in Jon's enthusiam because Rosemary volunteered immediately to host the annual group Christmas party. Over the past few months since Jon joined, they have shown up to help in every single way they can and support this group. Thank God for a family who will just accept a bunch of old country strangers and tell them all they have to do to get help is ask.
We write all this because we never want the spotlight to go only to the stage where 4 guys stand with a microphone in their hands. There are people behind the scenes who deserve a hug, a handshake, and a great big THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts and we wanted to thank you publicly.
God has a special blessing for all of you.
